City Council

The Granite Falls City Council invites you to attend all open meetings of the City Council on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in Granite Falls City Hall. Members of the public are permitted and encouraged to voice their concerns, ask questions, and offer opinions at each meeting. 

Closed sessions only occur when executive sessions are called to discuss pending litigation, property acquisition, or personnel matters. Otherwise, the doors are always opened and all interested parties are invited.

 Remembering Dave Smiglewski
February 5, 1996 - September 22, 2023		 Smiglewski    
Overview: Dave Smiglewski was appointed to fill a vacant Council spot on July 16, 1979 and assumed the position as Mayor following the death of Mayor Roy Lenzen on February 5th, 1996. Mayor Smiglewski served on the Street Committee, Community Education Board and the Utilities Commission. Dave passed away September 22, 2023.

Overview: Steve Nordaune was first elected and assume office as Alderperson on December 4, 2000. Steve became Interim Mayor in October of 2023 after the passing of Mayor Dave Smiglewski. He was then elected as Mayor starting January 6th, 2025. He currently serves on the Finance Committee, Park Committee, Street Committee, and the Wage and Salary Committee.
